Outreach successfully completed

It's hard to believe that this outreach has come to an end. It was a wonderful time of ministry and growth for each one of us. The things God did in and through each member of the team including the children was so amazing. When we were told that outreach would be 95% inreach and 5% outreach we found that hard to believe, but once again that theory has been proven a fact.

It's hard to believe it until you experience it for yourself. It's funny but we all went expecting to bless the people of Fiji and share the love of Jesus with them, and you leave more blessed and the love of Jesus each one of us experienced is more powerful than anyone of us could have imagined.

We all were stretched in ways we never expected and because of that we all had to completely rely on God. We could not have done the things we were asked to do without the wisdom and strength that could only come from Christ. God is so good and faithful!

We could not have done any of this without the support and prayer from all of you.

Thank you and God Bless!

Team A moves to Lautoka

During their time in Lautoka the team had many opportunities to share Christ through the different ministry they were involved in. They shared in Churches, visited Old Folks Home, painted a waiting room in the hospital, prayed for healing at Marine Reach, did a bibles study with their neighbours and visited the inmates in the men's prison.

This stretch of time was tough on this team and challenges they faced were difficult but through it all they perserved and continued to love each other. The growth we saw in each of them was incredible.

Lautoka Hospital Project

Vini who is the base director at the YWAM Personal Transformation Center had a vision to repair and paint the mothers waiting room in the Children's ward at the hospital. She asked if our team would be willing to help with this project and of course, we saw it a privilege to be the hands and feet of Jesus at the Lautoka Hospital.

After taking a look at the room and the adjoining, they knew it was going to require many hours of prep and physical work. But each member of the team including the children were excited and committed to completing this wonderful project.

Throughout the week while working on the room, we always had people dropping by curious about what we were doing. This was a great opportunity to share with them the love of Jesus and also be able to pray for them and the healing of their children. We began to see familiar faces and were able to build some great relationships during this time. At the end of the project we invited them all to come and we spent time worshipping, praying and dedicating this room to God.

On the last day the local Fiji newspaper came and took a picture of the team along with the scripture verses we had painted on the wall proclaiming Jesus promises of healing. We would like to also say a special thank you to Doris Greyeyes who contributed financially to the project making it possible.

What an awesome opportunity... it was a very special time.

Old Folks Home

Twice a week for 3 weeks, Trevor and Janet visited an old folks home with a local pastor who helped to interpret. On occasion some of the children joined them and spent time colouring pictures to give away to the old people. It was a wonderful time for them to bring forth a word, share their testimonies.

One of the things the Lord put on Janet's heart was to spend time praying and talking with as she washed their hands and massaged them with cream. They were able to tell each person how much Jesus loved them and has promised never to leave them.

Marine Reach

This week most of the team had the opportunity to work with "YWAM Marine Reach" which is a medical mission project. Marine Reach travel between the Pacific Islands to provide free medical care for the people and share with them the love of Jesus. Over the 2 day period our team played a support role by visiting homes to invite people to the church for treatment and praying for them especially for healing and their salvation.

During the 2 days they saw 150 people come for treatment. It was an exciting time when they saw miracles of healing and people giving their lives to Jesus.

Team B moves to Nadi

After a wonderful time together at Christmas the teams switched locations and prepared to do ministry in a new location. Team A went to Lautoka and Team B stayed in Nadi.

During this last stretch of ministry here in Nadi the team continually shared Christ through many different ministry they were involved in. They visited many people in 2 different villages, prayed with several patients in the hospital for healing and salvation's, did a wonderful 5 day Vacation Bible School (VBS) for children, and did a few cell groups in Narewa Village.

God is Good! (All the time!) All the time! (God is Good!)

Our Lord God is doing wonderful things back here in Nadi with and through, “team B” (Team Blessing!) This week alone we are just in ‘Awe’ of our Lord, as He uses us to pour out His Blessings of healing, peace, restoration and reconciliation. Not to mention His continual lifting and strengthening to us, Team B, as they go out in His Name.

Wonderfully, just in these last 3 days they have prayed with 5 people to receive our Lord in their hearts. (2 young men from Narewa Village and 3 men in Nadi Hospital). And they prayed for 1 young man in the hospital to re-dedicate his life to the Lord. And he was just visiting!

Sadly, but at the same time Glorious, is the fact of our praying for one of the men in the hospital to receive Jesus in his heart. A middle-aged Indian man, bedridden and almost to the point of agitation with his work that had left him over-burdened, he poured out to us his burdens and complaints. As we prayed for him and as “Talatala” Mark led him in the “sinner’s prayer” (Born-again prayer, eh?), his demeanor and countenance changed. He grew very Peaceful as he prayed for the Lord to enter him. We were blessed by the Peace the Lord has given this man. We left him resting.

The next day we were back to visit him again and learned from our friend, a dear, sweet, believing nurse in the ward, that our brother had passed on sometime in the night! What a wonderful message of God's amazing Grace! Thank you JESUS!

Team A's Village Experience

A week in the Baravai Village

The team was kept very busy during their stay in the Baravai village.
The people in the village had very little but they are certainly rich in Jesus and are blessed by all of His daily provision.

During the day, the team visited various surrounding villages and spent time sharing the gospel and praying for people. The ladies took turns staying back and put together a wonderful children’s program every day.

Each evening the team led a church service. They brough forth a message, beautiful dances and the team was able to share some dramas and personal testimonies. The 1st evening they were welcomed by the Pastor and the church fellowship. The theme for the week was LOVE. They broke down the teaching into “L” for Love, “O” for Obedience, “V” for Victory and “E” for Effectiveness and Enthusiasm. On Sunday morning they had an opportunity to share about the wonderful hospitality the villages had given us. They finished off the week with a beautiful Christmas service singing Christmas carols by candle light. What a wonderful evening.

All in all it was a great week and the team worked well together. They made new friends and saw many people saved and recommit their lives to Jesus. It will be a week many people will never forget.

Please join us as we continue to pray for the people in this village, the ones that were touched and the ones that they will touch with their new faith. We want to see Jesus continue to be lifted high in this village and trust that more people will come to know of His wonderful saving grace.

Team B's Village Experience

What a precious experience, our time in the village was. We came to this village to serve yet were overwhelmed by the generosity and loving sacrifices they made to serve us. They were the most loving hospitality-gifted people we have ever met. Relationships are very important and they will walk miles, just to get together. Time stands still and relationships grow deep, even in a short time. Very humbling!

During the days we were able to paint the interior and exterior of their 3 room school house. It was hard work but worth every minute. To know that the Lord brought us thousands of miles and to a place even remote from our outreach destination to help a village re-paint their school and have the villagers say that, “this (painting their school) is the Gospel in action”, made this the ‘Crown-Jewel’ of the outreach for us! So far!

In the evenings we had services in a spirit-filled Christian Missionary Fellowship (CMF). The church building was made of corrugated tin and whatever wood pieces of many lengths fastened together. It held firm and kept the floor dry. Most of all, Jesus was there, meeting with all of us.

One of the highlights of our time was the distribution of Franklin Graham’s Christmas Shoeboxes. There were 109 children who appeared for these gifts during our last morning at the school. Their looks of sheer delight melted our hearts. What a privilege! Christmas here really means just Jesus. They attend Church on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and partake in many shared meals. Gift giving is not part of their tradition. Time for relationships is their gift to one another and us.

We were blessed to be able to minister and enjoyed the wonderful fellowship daily. We saw many miracles as we prayed for the sick and hurting. Every person with pain that we prayed for was healed. One young man Elvin, worked with us painting the school. He put in many long hours is spite of a painful ear infection. He wore a towel around his head, covering his ears. We prayed for him and the next day he was healed. Praise God!

The last day we desperately wanted to gift one host home but we had no money. In a 5-minute span of walking down the road after church, a vehicle stopped to talk with us. After hearing we were YWAM missionaries the driver pulled out his wallet and gave us $100 – which we were able to bless our host family with. God did that miracle provision!

As we were preparing to leave and saying our good-byes, the people serenaded us with the national Fijian Farewell Song “ISA LEI”, it was really hard to hold back our tears.
